The Wells Fargo
building with Stage rides to take you back in time!
In addition to being a
wonderful educational State Park, the town has also appeared in many Hollywood
Westerns including "High Noon" and "Pale Rider".
The town has many interesting historic buildings to explore.
On the Fourth of July, Columbia has a wonderfully
celebration parade. A great place to celebrate the 4th.
The
City Hotel in Columbia features one of
our favorite restaurants in the Sonora area. The hotel serves as a
training center for Columbia Community College's Hospitality Management Program.
They serve an excellent fare!

One of our favorite places
to visit is the historic mining town of Columbia which dates back to the 1850's.
Located just outside of Sonora on Highway 49, it is a short trip from Twain
Harte to Columbia. The Historic center of the town is preserved as a
California State Historic Park. Many of the buildings in the park
are original brick buildings from the height of the Gold Rush. It
offers interesting shops, gold panning for the kids, and a fine Hotel with
an excellent restaurant.
