Twain Harte is beautiful community in the Sierra Nevada mountains where our family enjoys spending time at our cabin.   Located at 4000 feet,  it is right at the snow line.  In the winter it is just a twenty minute drive up highway 108 to Dodge Ridge Ski resort.   In the summer, there are lakes and hiking trails to enjoy.

    The community has grown over the years with the addtion of more cabins, motels, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants.   In Summer months the population can grow to over ten thousand as visitors arrive to enjoy the Sierras.

     In 1924 Twain Harte became one of the first private recreational communities in California.  Subdivided by Keturah C. Wood, it quickly became a popular playground for visitors and cabin owners.  Twain Harte lake was created to provide recreation for those who purchased property in the subdivisions of Twain Harte.  In 1930 a golf course was added for the enjoyment of the visitors.

Kelly's Mountain House Restaurant Re-Opens

On your way up or down the mountain,
stop at Kelly's for something to eat!
A tradition of 40 years has been brought back!  Located on Highway 108 just above Twain Harte at Suger Pine, Kelly's restaurant (Formerly Kelly's Kitchen) has re-opened this year.  The restaurant features American family style food at affordable prices.   Kelly's includes a "Kids' corner" with toys, a casual atmosphere, pool table, and an alpine tavern decorated with fun, old ski posters and antiques!   A pastry chef provides homemade pies like the original Kelly's Kitchen of the past.
